Suspicious south Windsor house fire causes $100K damage

Windsor police are asking for the public’s help as they investigate a suspicious house fire in the city’s south end.

On Thursday night, officers were called to a home on Mount Royal Drive after reports of an active fire.

Windsor Fire & Rescue Services arrived quickly and were able to put out the flames before anyone was hurt.

Although there were no injuries, police say the fire caused an estimated $100,000 in damage to the home.

Through their investigation, officers have identified a suspect who was seen approaching the house earlier in the evening. At the time, the individual had his shirt partially pulled over his face.

The suspect is described as an East Indian male wearing all-black clothing.

Police are now asking residents and business owners in the area to check any security cameras or dashcams for footage recorded between 6:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. that could help move the investigation forward.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Windsor Police Arson Unit at 519-255-6700, ext. 4330.
