A driver is facing multiple charges after Windsor police say he operated while impaired and refused to give a breath sample.
Patrol officers were on Tecumseh Road East near Lincoln Road in south Walkerville on Wednesday evening, when they spotted a vehicle weaving in and out of its lane and almost hitting another one.
A traffic stop was initiated and officers detected signs of impairment on the driver, along with a strong odour of alcohol.
The male driver was charged with impaired driving, refusing to provide a breath sample, failure to surrender his driver's licence, driving with no insurance, and driving with an unauthorized plate.
The charges have not been proven in court.
With the holiday season in full swing, Windsor police are using this incident to remind drivers not to operate a vehicle while using alcohol, cannabis, or other substances.
Increased patrols will be seen all over the city and in Amherstburg from now through January 1, 2026, with frequent Festive RIDE (Reduce Impaired Drivers Everywhere) checkpoints being set up.
