Fire investigators say a heat lamp is the preliminary cause of a fire at a downtown Windsor apartment building.
Windsor Fire and Rescue was called at around 8 a.m. on Monday to Windsor Avenue near Elliott Street East. When they arrived, they found a fire on the second floor and light smoke in a hallway.
The fire was declared out within half an hour, and occupants were sheltering in place elsewhere in the building.

No injuries were reported, but one person and two dogs have been displaced.
Windsor fire officials say a heat lamp placed too close to a couch may have contributed to the fire.
The unit has been turned over to the owner of the building.
