Windsor man charged in Gravenhurst crash

The Ontario Provincial Police remind drivers that it's the law to move over for tow trucks and emergency vehicles parked on the side of the road after a Windsor man was charged in a crash in Gravenhurst.

Police say officers and a tow truck responded to a single-vehicle crash on Highway 11 early Sunday morning, when a transport truck collided with the tow truck.

Fortunately, no one was hurt, but a 27-year-old man from Windsor is charged with failing to move into another lane for emergency vehicles or tow trucks and careless driving.

"This incident serves as an important reminder of the risks faced by tow-truck operators, emergency responders, and roadside-assistance workers who routinely perform their duties in active traffic," said the OPP.

Police recommend slowing down when approaching emergency vehicles or tow trucks on the shoulder, moving into the far lane, and staying alert for changing road and weather conditions.
