Home sales in Windsor-Essex finished on an up note in 2025, but have begun 2026 on a downward trend.
The Windsor-Essex Association of Realtors (WECAR) released its monthly sales figures for January on Wednesday.
Sales began in 2026 with a slight dip. WECAR's figures show that 267 properties changed hands in January, compared to 271 in January 2025, resulting in a 1.48 per cent drop.
The number of properties listed in Windsor-Essex last month was also down. Market activity in January consisted of 788 homes being placed on the market. Compared to January 2025, that's down 4.37 per cent from last year's 824.
Reflecting a trend in many Canadian home markets, the average sale price for a residential property in Windsor-Essex continued to drop in January.
The average price of a home for sale was $528,040. That accounts for a 7.63 per cent decline from last January, when the average price was $571,635.
The most popular price range for residential units sold in January was between $550,000 and $699,999, with 65 units changing hands.
