UPDATE: Windsor police arrest suspect in vehicle theft

Windsor police say a 29-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a vehicle theft near the downtown core last week.

Officers were called to the area of Aylmer Avenue and Tuscarora Avenue on January 30 after the Chevrolet Silverado was reported stolen. Police say the vehicle was left running with the key in the ignition.

The vehicle was later located, unoccupied, on Assumption Street and returned to its owner.

The Windsor Police Service Auto Theft Unit discovered surveillance images of the suspect, who was arrested on Wednesday in the Glengarry area.

He is charged with motor vehicle theft, and possession of stolen property over $5,000. The charges have not been proven in court.

Windsor police would like to thank the public for their help in resolving this matter.
