Employees of Windsor Regional Hospital have an opportunity for a little pampering thanks to a partnership with St. Clair College's Esthetician program.
Through the Windsor Regional Hospital employee wellness program, employees are offered complimentary services such as manicures, pedicures, and hair removal by the esthetician students.
"I'm getting a gel manicure, I'm pretty excited," said Jennifer Piche, who works in environmental services. "At work I use my hands all the time and they're pretty rough looking so this is nice."
Through the partnership, staff members can sign up for 10 time slots every Wednesday and Friday until April 2026.
"I know we're here to help the students get experience, but honestly, it's good for us because after working, it's so busy, occupancy levels are so high, we're hustling all the time, it's just kind of nice to spend a little time to take care of yourself and feel good," said Piche.
The students also benefit from the partnership by getting more hands-on experience.
"It is important for students. It teaches them industry, it teaches them soft skills, they get the hands-on experience and by the end of the course, they feel confident," said Deborah Agostini, program coordinator.
More than just getting experience, the students are excited to give back to others in the community.
"I love being able to give to people, I love giving the services, I love how people are relaxed. It's creating this really nice experience for people who, especially hospital workers, they work so hard, so it's really nice to be able to give them a nice, relaxing environment," said student Zoe Robson.
