Representatives from police services throughout Ontario and Detroit came to celebrate the official Windsor Police Change of Command Ceremony.
Police Chief Jason Crowley took over the position from Chief Jason Bellaire in November.
"The Change of Command ceremony... a lot of it is tradition, but it truly is that commitment to the community to this day things haven't changed, and you have our word that we are here for the community," said Chief Crowley.
Crowley said he is ready to work with all community partners, including other law enforcement agencies to help protect residents.
"So many Canadians work in the city of Detroit, we come to the city of Windsor and as law enforcement, it's a brotherhood, sisterhood out there, and it's about public safety. I support the new Chief, I supported the previous chief," said Detroit Police Chief Todd Bettison.
Since taking on the position in November, Crowley indicated his priorities have stayed the same.
"We're talking about core functions of policing. We're talking about helping the vulnerable community, and we're talking about helping our members overall. If our members aren't well, they cannot do the job we ask them to do," said Chief Crowley.
