Search for new music director underway

Over 100 people are interested in becoming the next music director of the Windsor Symphony Orchestra.

A job posting to fill the role left vacant by the death of Maestro Robert Franz closed on February 15, 2026.

“We have embarked on a very thorough and comprehensive process to fill this significant role. We are confident that this will result in the best possible outcome for our symphony,” said Deborah Severs, chair of the search committee. “It is an exciting process.”

The search committee is made up of board members, donors, musicians, and community members.

The committee will review each candidate and create a shortlist of candidates.

Each shortlisted candidate will be invited to spend a week in the community and conduct a concert in the 2026-2027 season.

The board hopes to have a permanent person in place for the 2027-2028 season, the orchestra's 80th season.
