The City of Windsor will replace 36 playgrounds over the next two years.
City council approved $16,266,000 of funding to replace playgrounds throughout the city, based on current conditions.
Starting this spring, city staff will hold public consultations before preparing design and tender documents for each replacement.
A request for proposals will be issued in the summer or fall, with work beginning in the spring and summer of 2027.
The city has committed to keeping current playgrounds accessible during construction where possible. Some current playgrounds may be removed before a replacement is ready due to safety concerns.
The playground at Lanspeary Park will be replaced with a "super playground" as identified in the Lanspeary Park Master Plan.
