Front Road sewer project delayed a week

Drivers who use Front Road to get around have a week reprieve before a major sewer project gets underway.

The Town of LaSalle had said construction would start on Front Road between Boismier Avenue and Reaume Road on Tuesday.

Now, it says construction, which will reduce traffic to one lane each way, will start on Monday, March 9.

The town announced that it had delayed the start of the project after reviewing the forecast for early next week.

The project will also close the intersections of Front Road with Maple Avenue, Kenwood Avenue, Delaware Avenue, Sacred Heart Drive, and Boismier Avenue.

Access to businesses along the corridor will be open, but there may be temporary closures during construction.

The town is installing underground stormwater pipes, storm chambers and manholes, and catch basins. As part of the project, new pump stations at G. Craig Park near the Riverdance building on Adams Lane will be built. The town said it will reduce flooding, protect public and private property, and consider the natural environment.

The project is expected to last two months, and additional work near Reaume Road will start in mid-March.
