Windsor police have turned to the public for help in identifying a suspect in connection with a counterfeit currency case.
Investigators from the Financial Crimes Unit report that the same male suspect visited two big-box retailers in one day and passed counterfeit $100 U.S. bills.
The first location was in the area of Tecumseh Road East and Rose-Ville Garden Drive. The man allegedly paid for items with four fake bills, received change in Canadian currency, then drove away in a white sedan.
About an hour later, the man visited another retailer on Cabana Road East and Walker Road and attempted to pass six counterfeit American $100s. When staff became suspicious, the man fled.
The man is described as White, about 30 years old, 5’ 10”, and 160 pounds. He was wearing an orange hard hat, a green winter jacket, blue jeans, and dark shoes.
He is wanted on two counts apiece of fraud under $5,000, possession of counterfeit currency, and uttering counterfeit money. He is also facing one count of possession of stolen property under $5,000.
