The City of Windsor has received over 180 reports of tree damage due to high winds over the last few days.
City Forester Yemi Adeyeye indicated that at least half of those needed an emergent response.
"We are trying our best to make sure we get to each of the service requests as fast as possible and as you would expect we are prioritizing the one that are emergencies that are required to make sure people are safe and normal business activities can continue To make sure roads are open and there's no branches in someone's front yard or blocking people's entrance or exits," said Adeyeye. "The other cases we will move to them as soon as we close the very, very emergent ones."
Adeyeye said the timing of the windstorm is what caused the widespread damage.
"I think the reason why we had this much is because the winter season is just turning to spring and some of the tree branches are still kind of cold," said Adeyeye.
Anyone who sees a downed branch should call 311 for service.
If you're looking to replace a fallen tree, Windsor homeowners can register for the city's spring tree planting program between now and April 13, 2026. Trees will be ready for pick-up on Saturday May 16.
