The Windsor Police Service is seeking the public’s help identifying a suspect in a racially motivated assault on a rideshare driver over the weekend.
On March 14, officers responded to a report of an assault in the 1400 block of Ouellette Avenue.
Shortly after 1 a.m., the driver reported picking up a female passenger in east Windsor. During the trip, the suspect allegedly directed racist and hateful remarks at the driver and verbally berated him. It was also alleged that she repeatedly struck the victim in the back of the head and neck while he was operating the vehicle.
Despite the alleged attack, the driver completed the trip and drop the suspect off in the city’s west end. The victim reportedly sustained physical injuries.
Police say investigation revealed the rideshare account used to request the trip was registered under a name not believed to belong to the suspect.
As a result, police are asking the public for assistance in identifying the suspect.
She is described as a white female, approximately 50 to 60 years old, with blonde hair and glasses.
At the time of the incident, she was wearing a white puffer jacket and a light-coloured winter headband.
