CBP seizes weapons, cannabis at the Windsor-Detroit Tunnel

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents seized a large quantity of prohibited items during a recent operation.

Agents on the Detroit side of the Windsor-Detroit Tunnel were conducting outbound enforcement on March 15 when they stopped a U.S. citizen.

A search of the vehicle uncovered two firearms, a clip, ammunition, and assorted accessories. Several cannabis-based products were also found.

The drugs and weapons were seized, and the driver was sent on their way.

The CBP has used this incident to remind cross-border travellers that although recreational cannabis is legal in the state of Michigan, it is a federal crime to bring it over the border.
