Essex OPP have arrested and charged a member of the Windsor Police Service as a result of a long running investigation.
According to OPP, in August 2023 the WPS requested that provincial police conduct an investigation into allegations of breach of trust involving one of their officers.
As a result of the investigation, on Tuesday Cst. Kenneth Campo was arrested and charged with breach of trust.
The 45-year-old was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Windsor court on Tuesday, June 30.
Cst. Campo, has been a member of the WPS since 2007.
Windsor Police says he has been removed from active duty pending further review and formal proceedings have been started to suspend him without pay.
"I understand this incident will affect public trust, and I take that seriously. Trust is built through our actions every day, and we’re committed to earning it by being open, being accountable, and taking the right actions," said Windsor Police Chief Jason Crowley in a statement. "Our priority right now is to fully support the investigation and continue serving the community with professionalism and integrity."
Windsor Police says no further information will be released.
