$4.8M manufacturing investment creates six new jobs in Tecumseh

Aalbers Tool & Mold Inc. announced at a press conference Wednesday, they have invested over $4.8-million to boost local manufacturing, creating six new jobs with the help of the Ontario Government

The government is providing over $700,000 funding through the Regional Development Program's Southwestern Ontario Development Fund.

"It's a program that supports those in our geographic area," said MPP Windsor-Tecumseh Andrew Dowie. "Those shops that are making investments and adding to the workforce. It helps them get more competitive."

The investment was used towards two machines with one already included in the shop and another expected next year.

"What we're hoping to do is automate more and more," said Gary Aalbers, CEO of the company. "So we are hiring six more people to do this."

The company makes plastic injection molds, including interior parts of a car such as door panels, glove boxes, and consoles.

Aalbers said the six employees that will be hired will not be strictly working on the machine.

"That machine will allow us to do more volume, so therefore we can hire another tool maker and another program manager." he said.

"We're so grateful for the team here at Aalbers who put forward and made the investment on their side," said Dowie. "The government of Ontario takes a small part of it, but the investment truly comes from the owners of Aalbers."
