A 50-year-old man is facing multiple charges after an eight-hour standoff.
Windsor police were called at around 8 p.m. on Tuesday to a house on Drouillard Road near Ontario Street, for a person-in-crisis call.
When officers arrived, they learned that a woman had been lured to a man's home, then given a substance that made her pass out. When she came to, the woman realized she had been sexually assaulted.
Police say the woman tried to leave, but was forcibly restrained with her cell phone and money taken. The door was barricaded by being screwed shut from the outside.
The victim escaped after a bystander heard her cries for help.
Members of the Emergency Services Unit contained the residence. The suspect was later found hiding in the home's attic and refused to leave. Following a standoff that stretched into early Wednesday, the man surrendered.
Paul Colin Musgrave has been charged with sexual assault, forcible confinement, robbery, and administering a noxious substance.
The charges have not been proven in court.
The Windsor police's Child Abuse and Sexual Assault Unit continues to investigate.
