The Rotary Club of Windsor-Roseland has announced the winners of this year's Burger Battle.
The fundraiser raised $35,000 dollars, with 17 restaurants participating.
It was Bender's Bar and Grill in Windsor's first time in the competition. They received over 2,900 votes and took home the title of Best Burger in Windsor/LaSalle/Tecumseh.
"We are just blown away by the win, especially when I look at the great restaurants involved," said Bender's Bar and Grill owner Ben Fallon. "Our Chef and staff are thrilled with the win, and we will definitely be in next year to defend our title."
Wolfhead Distillery in Amherstburg has been awarded the Best Burger in The County.
"Seeing so many people come out to try our burger and support all the participating restaurants has been truly rewarding." Danielle Moldovan, Director of Marketing and Business Development at Wolfhead Distillery, noted.
The last honorary title went to another first-time participant. Beerded Dog Brewing Co. in Harrow took home the title of Best Fries Windsor-Essex.
"While we are a brewery, we pride ourselves on serving great food, and clearly our fries have won over the hearts of our customers," said Kim Ilerm, Owner of Beerded Dog Brewing Co.
According to the Rotary Club, it has been a successful campaign, almost doubling its goal from last year of $18,000.
"The fact that we have added six new restaurants this year and a number of restaurants are repeat participants is a testament to the increase in business our local restaurants experience as a result of this promotion," Event Chair Ann Hetherington added.
The funds will be used to continue the Rotary's work throughout the community and around the world.
