Windsor Cancer Centre campaign encourages residents to 'Show Us Your Brave'

The Windsor Cancer Centre Foundation is kicking off its Show Us Your Brave campaign with over $168,000 already raised.

The campaign asks residents to face their fears in honour of the brave men and women who face a cancer diagnosis with courage.

Campaign ambassador Christina Bonadonna was diagnosed with breast cancer last year and continues her treatments.

She's hoping residents can find their brave to support programs and equipment purchases at the Windsor Cancer Centre.

"Being brave is stepping forward, is moving forward, it's ok to be scared but being brave is getting through something that you never thought you could have," said Bonadonna.

The pinnacle of the campaign is Brave Day when participants will repel 170 feet down the CIBC building in downtown Windsor.

"If that's not your cup of tea you can do something yourself so if you've always been afraid to do something, decide to do it. Decide to do it and raise funds," said Houida Kassem, Windsor Cancer Centre Foundation Executive Director.

The foundation hopes to raise $400,000 to support priority needs at the centre.
