Lakeshore house fire deemed suspicious

A house fire in Lakeshore early Tuesday morning is getting a closer look.

Lakeshore firefighters responded to the fire at a home on North Rear Road shortly after 2:30 a.m.

No injuries were reported, and the home was empty.

A cause has not been determined. The OPP's Essex County Crime Unit and the Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal have continued the investigation and now believe the fire was suspicious.

"Police are asking residents and businesses in the surrounding area to review any available security or surveillance footage for suspicious activity around the time of the incident. Any relevant information may assist investigators," read a media release from the OPP.

There was no word on a damage estimate.

The OPP will provide updates as they become available.
