Multiple charges for Kingsville e-bike rider

A Kingsville man will have to answer for allegedly riding an e-bike erratically.

Ontario Provincial Police say officers were on patrol in Kingsville on Friday afternoon when they spotted an e-bike user speeding through town and ignoring stop signs at Queen Street at Stewart Street, and Stewart Street at Division Street.

The e-bike and rider were then spotted at a business on Wigle Avenue, where he had been previously served a trespass notice.

The 47-year-old man is charged with two counts of failing to stop for a stop sign, and one count of failing to wear a helmet on a power-assisted bicycle.

He is also charged with failing to comply with a demand, entering premises after being trespassed, and engaging in prohibited activity on premises.

The e-bike has been impounded for seven days, and the driver's licence was suspended for 90 days.

The charges have not been proven in court. The rider will have a chance to respond in a Windsor court on June 11.
