Leamington to begin dog tag enforcement Wednesday

The Municipality of Leamington will go door-to-door this week to ensure that Fido and Fifi are properly tagged.

Starting Wednesday, representatives will visit homes to ensure that dog owners are complying with the bylaw that requires each animal to be registered and tagged.

"In accordance with By-law 668-06, every person who owns or keeps a dog in the Municipality of Leamington is required to register their dog and purchase a dog tag," read the notice from the Municipality. "Further, no person may own or keep more than two dogs on a property unless the property is licensed as an approved dog kennel."

Representatives will be identified with an official municipality name tag.

The cost of a dog tag is $55, including the late fee, and may be purchased online or in person at the Leamington Municipal Building. Cash payments are not accepted.

For complete information about dog registration, visit the webpage on the Municipality's official website.
