OPP deal with pair of impaired driving collisions

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were once again spending the weekend handling suspected impaired drivers.

A pair of drivers were arrested within 48 hours.

The first was Saturday evening. Police were called shortly before 7:30 p.m. to Talbot Street North near Lutsch Street in Leamington for a two-vehicle crash. One of the drivers left the scene.

A 28-year-old Leamington resident was soon found, arrested, and charged with impaired driving, driving with excessive blood-alcohol content, dangerous driving, and failure to remain at the scene of a crash.

The second was Monday night in Lakeshore. OPP officers conducted a traffic stop at around 11 p.m. on Notre Dame Street.

A 28-year-old from Belle River was charged with impaired driving and driving with excessive blood alcohol.

Both drivers had their licences suspended for 90 days, and their vehicles were impounded for seven days.
