10 years of Wellness Wednesdays in downtown Windsor

For the past 10 years, the City of Windsor and other downtown businesses have been encouraging employees to get outside for Wellness Wednesdays.

It's all part of the Canadian Mental Health Association Windsor-Essex County’s Sole Focus Project for mental health awareness.

"I think at first it was just bringing awareness to mental health because it happens during Mental Health Week, and it's been an awesome surprise that it's continued annually with that focus continuing to be on mental health," said Kim Willis, Director of Communications and Mental Health Promotions with CMHA-Windsor-Essex Branch.

Each Wednesday in May, downtown employees of the University of Windsor, St. Clair College, Windsor-Detroit Tunnel, Windsor Police Service, Windsor Fire and Rescue Services, and Windsor Public Library will meet in Charles Clark Square for a walk along the city's riverfront.

The Canadian Mental Health Association Windsor-Essex County encourages everyone to get outside and make connections to improve mental health.

"We know being outside brings enormous benefits to your physical and mental wellness. So sit on your porch, sit outside, do what you are physically able to do," said Willis.
