For the first time in 12 years, there's a mayoral race in the Town of Tecumseh.
Incumbent Gary McNamara has filed nomination papers, and so has current Deputy Mayor Joe Bachetti.
McNamara was acclaimed in the last two elections and has held the position since 2003.
Bachetti was also acclaimed as Deputy Mayor in the last municipal election. He was first elected to the role in 2014 and has been serving on the town council since 1994.
"It's time for me to step up. I believe our town is entering an important new chapter and the decisions we make in the next few years about growth, infrastructure, economic opportunities and community services will shape our future for decades," said Bachetti.
Long-time councillor Tania Jobin is running for Deputy Mayor in the 2026 election.
To date, Darrin Drouillard has filed to run for councillor in Ward 1, James Dorner is running in Ward 2, Leo Demarce in Ward 3, and Marisa Nabbout in Ward 5.
Election Day is October 26. Candidates have until August 21, 2026 to file nomination papers.
