Unifor has announced which of the Detroit "Big Three" automakers it will begin contract talks with.
The union will begin talks on June 22 with the Ford Motor Company.
"Currently, the Canadian auto sector, and in turn our members and their families, face unprecedented challenges," said Unifor National President Lana Payne in a media release. "Unifor firmly believes it is in the best interest of our members across the Detroit Three to work to establish the pattern agreement for 2026 auto bargaining with Ford Motor Company."
Unifor has had a history of beginning contract talks with Ford, setting a pattern for talks with Stellantis and General Motors.
Ford Canada employs over 5,000 people at its Canadian headquarters and chief assembly plant in Oakville, as well as at its two Windsor engine plants.
