The power of nurses may be reflected every day at Hotel Dieu Grace Healthcare, but every May, the hospital takes the time to recognize a few of their outstanding healthcare professionals.
It's National Nursing Week, and the power of nurses to transform health is the theme. On Wednesday, the hospital hosted its 2026 Nursing Awards Ceremony recognizing three nurses with the Jeanne Mance Extraordinary Nursing Award and two others with the Lori Dupont Bursary.
The Jeanne Mance Extraordinary Nursing Award went to registered practical nurses Sava Demic, Melissa Robert, and Griffin Salaris.
The hospital said each one continually goes above and beyond to provide compassionate and professional care to patients, and exemplifies teamwork, stewardship, and respect.
Registered nurse Marjaneh Abdollahpour Dilmani and nurse practitioner Shauna Carter. Dilmani will use the $1,000 bursary to pursue specialized studies in wound, ostomy and continence care, while Carter works towards obtaining a certificate in Mental Health and Addictions for Nurse Practitioners.
"Our nurses are leaders in innovation, compassionate care, and patient advocacy, and they play a vital role in shaping better health outcomes for our community," said Vice President of Clinical Services, Restorative Care and Chief Nursing Executive Shannon Landry. "The recipients we celebrate truly embody the power of nursing to transform lives."
