Windsor rideshare driver charged with sexual assault

Windsor police have charged a rideshare driver with sexual assault after an investigation by the Windsor Police Child Abuse and Sexual Assault Unit.

Police said they started the investigation on April 18 after a woman reported the assault. She said she arranged a ride through a ridesharing app and was picked up by a man. He offered his personal phone number for future bookings.

The victim contacted the driver directly later that evening to request a return ride.

The victim reported the accused allegedly made unwanted sexual advances toward her and sexually touched her while they were parked on Askin Avenue.

The victim repeatedly told the driver to stop before he eventually drove her home.

The incident was reported to police.

A suspect was identified and the 30-year-old was arrested and charged with sexual assault.
