Impaired drivers arrested in two incidents on the weekend

A crash early Sunday morning in Leamington has resulted in charges for a 26-year-old man, while an Essex man faces charges after a traffic stop on Saturday night.

The Ontario Provincial Police stopped a 34-year-old Essex man on Gloucester Drive and Cumberland Way in Essex around 7:43 p.m. on Saturday after receiving complaints about how the vehicle was driven.

Officers charged the driver with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and two counts of impaired driving.

Meanwhile, a 26-year-old Leamington man is charged with impaired driving, fail or refusal to comply with a demand, and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle after a crash on Highway 77 near Mersea Road 8.

Both drivers had their license suspended for 90 days and their vehicles impounded for a week. They also have appearances scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor in July.
