Taxi driver injured in robbery

Windsor police arrested and charged one person after a taxi driver was robbed Sunday night.

Officers were called to the area of McDougall Street and Chatham Street around 9 p.m. after a report of a vehicle theft.

They say the cab driver was arguing with a man over payment for the ride. When the driver exited the vehicle to confront the suspect, the suspect got into the car and took off, causing the driver to fall to the ground.

The suspect sped away and did not stop for traffic signals.

The victim was taken to the hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

City Centre Patrol officers tracked down the stolen taxi and arrested the suspect without incident.

The 58-year-old is facing charges of robbery and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm.
