The launch of the sixth annual W.E. Heart Local digital pass is making it easier to support local growers, producers, and other agribusinesses.
Through Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island's digital pass, residents and visitors can explore a map of the local experiences and check-in to the ones they visit for exclusive offers, seasonal recipes, and giveaways.
"It's easy you can sign on to the pass and it has everybody listed, directions to their farms, I think it's very important," sais Josh Mailloux, President of the Essex County Federation of Agriculture.
Last year the pass had around 1,400 users with 45,000 visits to the W.E. Heart Local website.
"It's a niche market, which we love, all those micro markets of why you want to visit, and it's a great tool for enhancing a trip. You may come for a reason, but then you see this pass and go, I can go to these markets or these stores. It's a growing market for us, and the agri-tourism experiences are really what make it unique," said Jason Toner, Vice-President of Marketing and Communications for Tourism Windsor-Essex Pelee Island.
