Firefighters fight heat along with fires in Belle River and Amherstburg

After hours in yesterday's heat, fighting a house fire in Amherstburg, three firefighters are back on the job.

They, along with a fourth firefighter who suffered a minor injury, were treated at the scene of the fire on McBride Avenue on Thursday.

They were called to the two-storey home around 2:30 p.m. and realized quickly they were dealing with an aggressive fire.

Amherstburg Fire Chief Michael Mio said no one living in the home was hurt, but four people are displaced.

The fire has been ruled accidental after it caused $600,000 in damage. The fire started in the mechanical room in the basement and spread to the second floor.

Meanwhile, firefighters remain at the scene of another fire, this one in Belle River.

Lakeshore Fire officials ask the public to stay away from Dupuis Street near Broadway Street until further notice.

More to come.
