Upgrades to Tecumseh's Lakewood Park South are ready to enjoy.
The nearly $4-million project includes a natural amphitheatre, amenities for a food truck plaza, all-season bathrooms, and a natural gas firepit.
"Music events, small-scale events, I think our food operator is thinking about offering Jazz Fridays and things of that nature. So, as the months evolve and we ourselves start to get accustomed and acclimated to the space, you'll start to see more opportunities emerge," said Beth Gagnon, Director of Community and Recreation Services.
The project also included two water features. There are misting forest trees as well as water jets that will come from the ground. The water features will only turn on with the push of the button.
The new bocce ball courts are also free to use. Anyone can bring their bocce sets and play on the courts provided.
The disc golf course is still playable at the back of the park with walking trails throughout.
The town will celebrate the enhancements with a Party on the Plaza Sunday evening. From 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., there will be food trucks, kids' activities, live music and other entertainment.
