Two fires displace several people

Several people were displaced from their homes after two unrelated fires in Windsor.

Windsor Fire and Rescue Services was called to Labadie Road just after 11 p.m. Thursday. The fire extended from one house into another.

Damages to the house where the fire originated were estimated at $500,000. One person was displaced from that dwelling. Three people were displaced from the secondary house, where the fire caused $250,000 in damage.

Windsor fire reports they found smoking materials and a propane heater in the area where the fire started, so they were unable to determine the specific cause.

Early Friday morning, Windsor Fire and Rescue crews were called to another blaze on Turner Road. They report the occupants were cooking in oil when the oil ignited and extended throughout the kitchen.

No injuries were reported, and all occupants got out safely.

The fire caused $100,000 in damage and displaced seven people.
