The Downtown Windsor Business Improvement Association is bringing back Block Parties downtown, with the first one set to go on Saturday.
The Motown Block Party starts at 6 p.m. on Pitt Street East in front of Panache Ultra Lounge, On A Roll Suchi & Sliders, La Guardia Italian Cuisine and The Cherry Rock Lounge.
"Last year was such a hit that doing it again was an easy decision," said Ward 3 City Councillor Renaldo Agostino. "It's one of those nights where downtown just feels good, music playing, people out, businesses busy, and everyone having a great time."
Dr Disc will be on-site selling records from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., so those going can browse the classic sounds ahead of the evening concert. After the block party, The Cherry Rock Lounge will keep the party going with a 90s-themed afterparty.
Headlining the evening's entertainment is The Soul Delegation, who will bring Motown favourites to the celebration, turning the street into a dance floor.
The event is free and wraps up at 11 p.m.
The weekend of June 20, the DWBIA will present a Techno Block Party with a live DJ set in Art Alley next to the Pelissier Parking Garage. DJ Mark Oliver, with support from Detroit's Sherif and local DJs OLA, Thrack Anderson, Roice, and Kacper Kawala, will add to an afternoon and evening of techno music, art, food, and community connection. Local artist Denial will host hands-on programming.
