Windsor to hold World Cup watch parties this week

Soccer fans will have an opportunity to cheer on their teams with a pair of public events in downtown Windsor.

The City of Windsor is hosting two public soccer watch parties outside City Hall on Wednesday and Thursday.

Each watch party will feature live broadcasts of two World Cup matches, giveaways, food and beverage offerings, soccer mini-skills, kids' activities, and more.

Both parties will run from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.

On Wednesday, soccer fans may watch the match between Bosnia-Herzegovina and Switzerland. At 6 p.m., fans may cheer on the home team as Canada kicks off against Qatar.

On Thursday, the USA-Australia game will take place at 3 p.m., with the Scotland-Morocco match set for 6 p.m.

The watch parties are made possible by the Downtown Windsor Business Improvement Association (DWBIA), the provincial government, and Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island (TWEPI).
