One arrested, one at large, after west Windsor break-in

Windsor Police have one suspect in custody and are looking for a second after a break-in early Monday morning at a building under construction on Wyandotte Street West.

Police received a call from a worker monitoring live surveillance cameras at the construction site near Curry Avenue, who said two men had unlawfully entered the property and were removing drywall and other items.

Officers established a perimeter around the building. Then, K9 officer Timber was set loose.

The police dog found one suspect hiding in one of the rooms, and he was taken into custody after a short struggle.

Police recovered two backpacks at the scene containing tools. They also found a pry bar, screwdrivers and a flashlight.

A 32-year-old man is now charged with break-and-enter to commit an indictable offence, possession of break-in instruments, and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

Police are still looking for the second suspect and ask anyone with information to call the Target Base Unit at 519-255-6700 ext. 4350, Crime Stoppers at 519-258-8477, or visit www.catchcrooks.com.
