We may soon be celebrating the groundbreaking of the Fancsy Family Hospital.
The Windsor Regional Hospital (WRH) board of directors held its annual general meeting on Thursday evening. During a report provided by hospital president and CEO Kristin Kennedy, it was announced that mid-July was set as a groundbreaking for the long-awaited project.
The announcement was confirmed to WindsorNewsToday.ca by a hospital spokesperson on Thursday night, with specific details still to come.
The site, at the corner of County Road 42 and County Road 9 near Windsor Airport, was blessed on Tuesday in an Indigenous ceremony.
Also on Thursday, the WRH board announced two new additions.
Joe Milicia served on the Quality of Care Committee in 2024, and the Finance and Audit Committee in 2025. He is the CAO for the Town of LaSalle.
Brandon Pottie served on the Quality of Care Committee in 2025. He serves as the operations director for Community Living Windsor and is in the process of completing his doctorate in business administration.
"We are proud to welcome both Joe and Brandon to our slate of board directors, bringing their unique perspectives and experience to the table and helping guide WRH’s governance and financial stewardship," said WRH Board Chair Ian McLeod.
The board also announced on Thursday that Drake Reid and Zahid Khandoker are joining the Finance and Audit Committee, while Minelva Brown and Renu Khosla are joining the Quality of Care Committee.
