Lakeshore provides extra waste collection as storm cleanup continues

Following Sunday's significant rainfall in the region, the Municipality of Lakeshore is offering its residents an extra waste collection for flood debris on Tuesday, July 14.

Residents will need to have their flood debris out on the curb by 6 a.m.

The collection area runs from Manning Road at Amy Croft Drive, south to County Road 22, east on County Road 22 to the Puce roundabout, north of County Road 22, including Albert Lane to the lake, and lakefront properties west of the Puce River.

The municipality asks residents to place flood debris in hard-sided containers or garbage bags that cannot be stacked on containers. Bags and containers can't weigh more than 45 lbs or 20 kgs.

All sharp objects, batteries, and hazardous waste must be removed.

Downed tree limbs and branches must be cut in four-foot lengths, bundled securely with a maximum diameter of two feet. They also shouldn't exceed 45 lbs.

Yard waste can be placed in paper yard waste bags, cardboard boxes, or garbage cans.

The Essex Windsor Solid Waste Authority is also offering residents a grace period for those using double-axle trailers to drop off debris. Residents won't be charged a fee until Saturday, August 1st or otherwise stated.
