A Windsor-Essex resident is a little lighter in the bank account after being found guilty of illegally hunting deer.
According to the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources, the man pleaded guilty at the Ontario Court of Justice in St. Thomas, to unlawfully hunting during a controlled deer hunt.
He was fined $3,000.
In November 2025, a conservation officer working in the West Elgin area during the early-season, muzzle-loading only controlled deer hunt encountered the man, who had tagged a deer while participating in a party hunt. It turned out the man was not validated for the early hunt.
It was also revealed that the man had committed the same offence during the early-season controlled hunt in the fall of 2024. As a result, the man's deer was seized and donated.
