On Sunday, residents are invited to honour peacekeepers who have died while trying to bring peace to people around the world.
There will be a special memorial service for them at Reaume Park. The service gets underway at 11 a.m.
The family-friendly service will honour fallen peacekeepers who "stood at the ready defending democracy and safeguarding fundamental civil liberties by advancing non-violent solutions to conflict," said a release.
Veteran Affairs Canada says Canada played a key role in creating the concept of the United Nations peacekeeper by monitoring ceasefires, patrolling buffer zones, clearing landmines, and investigating war crimes.
