The City of Windsor is urging residents who are taking a load to the public drop-off depot to secure their loads.
Residents are encouraged to cover the load up with a tarp or net, and strap it down with ropes.
The problem is, unsecured loads can scatter litter along roadways, create traffic hazards for other drivers, and can damage property. It also costs the city money to clean it up.
Items like loose yard waste, lumber, furniture, and garbage can easily shift in a vehicle or trailer and become airborne during the ride to the depot.
By securing loads, residents can reduce litter, prevent unnecessary traffic delays, and support cleanup efforts.
