The Town of Essex by-law enforcement will now be patrolling the town on bicycles.
Bicycle patrols will increase visibility and service in busy areas of the town, like Colchester Beach, on main streets, and during community events.
“By-Law Enforcement plays an important role in keeping our community safe and welcoming for all, and this new bicycle patrol program gives our officers another way to connect with residents and visitors,” said Mayor Sherry Bondy.
The Town’s By-Law Enforcement vehicle, a new hybrid Toyota RAV4, will soon be equipped with a bicycle rack, allowing officers to transport the bicycles and conduct patrols throughout the municipality.
Moving forward, bicycle patrols will be used in the town during spring and summer.
