Driver wanted after teen struck in Windsor

Windsor police are looking for the driver of a vehicle believed to be involved in a pedestrian hit-and-run earlier this month.

Emergency crews responded to a report of a pedestrian stuck on Howard Avenue near Eugenie Street East soon after 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 9.

A 17-year-old girl was crossing Howard Avenue with three other teens when she was struck at a high rate of speed. She was taken to hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

The vehicle has been described as a newer-model grey Ford Escape.

Police have asked residents and business owners in the area to check their security camera and dashcam footage from between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. on August 9, and contact police if they see something that may help investigators.

Anyone with information, or who may have witnessed the crash and did not speak to police, should call Windsor police's Traffic Enforcement Unit at (519) 255-6700, extension 7032. Anonymous tips may be submitted to Crime Stoppers at (519) 258-TIPS (8477).
