Highway Traffic Act infractions lead OPP to two allegedly impaired drivers

The Ontario Provincial Police always get their man, but when the suspect commits a Highway Traffic Act infraction, impaired driving makes it much easier.

The OPP say two drivers face charges after committing offences on Wednesday.

The first was arrested at 1:15 a.m. when the OPP received a complaint about a driver on Manning Road near Talbot Road in Tecumseh.

Police pulled over a 33-year-old Leamington man and charged him with two counts of impaired driving and one of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

The second was arrested later that night on Highway 3 near County Road 23 in Essex.

The OPP say a vehicle went through a red light, so the officer pulled it over.

A 51-year-old Harrow man now faces charges of going through a red light and two counts of impaired driving.

Both drivers lost their licenses for 90 days, and their vehicles were impounded for a week.

Once again, the OPP urge the public to call 911 if they suspect a driver is impaired by alcohol or drugs.

Non-emergency traffic complaints can be called in to 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
