The Bridge in Leamington receives major donation to continue operations

A Leamington organization that helps about 300 youth in need each year has received a $1-million donation from the Solcz Family Foundation.

The Bridge Youth Resource Centre received the cheque this week after a weekend announcement.

The donation will help the centre continue operations through to the end of this year and into 2027, while it completes a 50-unit mixed-income housing project in Leamington. It's raised $12-million for the project and hopes to make an announcement about it at the end of the month.

"The Solcz Family allowed us to ensure the operations were maintained while we completed the campaign and the project itself," said Executive Director Krista Rempel.

In return, The Bridge is renaming its youth resource centre, "The Solcz Family Foundation Centre for Youth Development."

"That is the building," said Rempel. "The Bridge will still remain as the overarching organizational name."
