Are you asking municipal candidates questions about these issues?

More and more election signs are popping up across Windsor-Essex ahead of this month's municipal vote, and the Windsor Essex County Health Unit wants to make sure voters and candidates are aware of the issues that impact resident health.

"Some of the most important health decisions in our communities start at the municipal level," said the health unit in a release. "From housing affordability to emergency preparedness to mental health supports and community safety, local leadership has a direct impact on community well-being."

The health unit has provided all municipal candidates with a public health information package highlighting five key issues.

Residents are invited to view the same material and use it to engage with candidates in meaningful conversations about the future.

Those five priorities are children and mental health, emergency preparedness, substance use, food insecurity, and intimate partner violence.

"Municipal elections are an opportunity to shape the future of Windsor-Essex," said the health unit. "The WECHU encourages residents to learn about these issues, ask candidates where they stand, and consider how local decisions can support healthier, safer, and more resilient communities."
