A candidate for Windsor City Council has provided her views on keeping the city's parks, trails, and neighbourhoods safe.
Beth Ann Prince, a challenger for the Ward 7 seat, has laid out her views on safety in public places, as well as increasing police presence in the east-end ward.
"Ward 7 should be a community where families feel safe on their streets, in their neighbourhoods and while enjoying our parks and trails," said Prince in a media release. "Residents are telling me they want action on speeding, safer public spaces and a stronger sense of security in their neighbourhoods. My plan focuses on practical steps we can take to make that happen."
Prince said that if she's elected on October 26, she will advocate for speed control and school safety zones. She will also call for additional traffic-calming measures and speed limit reviews.
With Ward 7 being home to a significant amount of parkland, Prince has also pledged to improve lighting in parks and expand the Project Greenlight initiative currently running in the downtown core. Prince has also promised to engage Windsor police's auxiliary unit to help patrol these green areas.
Prince has also suggested creating a satellite office for Windsor police in Ward 7.
"Feeling safe in your neighbourhood matters. I want to bring Windsor Police, City administration and residents together to identify areas of concern and determine where resources can have the greatest impact," said Prince.
Prince has acknowledged that putting the plan into place will take collaborative action with the City's engineering staff, Windsor police, and other stakeholders.
"I’ve spent my career bringing governments, organizations and community partners together, building the case for action and getting people working toward a common solution," said Prince. "As councillor, I’ll take the same approach, listen to residents, use evidence to build the plan, bring the right people to the table, identify realistic and financially responsible solutions, and push for action."
Also running in Ward 7 are incumbent Angelo Marignani and Victoria Soulade.
