Advance voting set for Essex County municipalities

Communities across Windsor-Essex have begun the process of letting residents decide who will represent them for the next four years.

With the City of Windsor announcing the start of advance voting this weekend, municipalities in the county have made their own plans to let residents mark ballots ahead of the October 26 election.

Amherstburg

One more voting day has been announced for the Town of Amherstburg, with the first one being held on Wednesday.

Voting will take place on Saturday, October 17, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., at the Libro Credit Union Centre and Anderdon Public School.

Essex

There will be two more advance voting days in the Town of Essex.

The first session is on Saturday, October 10, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Harrow and Colchester South Community Centre.

The second will be on Wednesday, October 14, from noon to 8 p.m., at the Colchester Community Room on Jackson Street.

Kingsville

Residents will be able to vote in advance on two Saturdays before the election.

The first Saturday session is set for October 17, from noon to 8 p.m., at the Gosfield Communications Community Centre on Fox Street.

The second one is on Saturday, October 24, from noon to 8 p.m., at the Grovedale Arts and Culture Centre on Park Street.

Lakeshore

The Municipality has one voting day set for this Saturday, October 10, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., at the Atlas Tube Recreation Centre.

LaSalle

Voters in the Town of LaSalle will participate in online voting this election.

Residents may submit their choices beginning on Friday, October 16, and the window will be open continuously until the polls close on Election Day, Monday, October 26.

For residents looking for voting guidance, a Help Centre will be available at LaSalle Civic Centre on weekdays during the online voting period.

A pop-up Voter Help Centre will be available on Saturday, October 17, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., and on Saturday, October 24, from 9 a.m. to noon, at the Vollmer Complex.

A second pop-up voter centre will be on Thursday, October 22, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the Event Centre at LaSalle Landing.

Leamington

The Municipality of Leamington has scheduled three advance voting days.

The first is this Saturday, October 10, from noon to 6 p.m., at St. Michael's Parish on Elliott Street. Another voting day will be held at St. Michael's on Wednesday, October 21, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The third voting day is on Saturday, October 17, from noon to 6 p.m., at the Nature Fresh Farms Recreation Centre.

Pelee Island

Island residents will vote by mail during this election.

Registered Pelee Island voters should have received a voter information kit in the mail. For voters who registered after the kits were mailed, they will need to pick them up in-person at the Pelee Island Municipal Office.

Completed voter kits must be either returned in-person, or received at the Municipal Office no later than 8 p.m. on Election Day, or they will not be counted.

Tecumseh

Voters in the Town of Tecumseh will participate in online and telephone balloting.

Voting is now open and will remain so until 8 p.m. on Election Day.

A series of voter information sessions will be hosted by the Town between October 15 and October 24. Voters will be able to learn about the process and get assistance with voting.
